The annual inflation rate eased to 4% in February 2026, down from 4.1% in January, when it had reached its highest level since June 2023. Price growth moderated across several CPI components, including food and non-alcoholic beverages (5.4% vs 6.1% in January), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (9.4% vs 9.7%), miscellaneous goods and services (9.2% vs 9.3%), clothing and footwear (4.1% vs 4.3%), and furnishings and household equipment (4.8% vs 4.9%). At the same time, prices continued to decline for housing and utilities (-2.7% vs -2.8%) and communications (-1.2% vs -1.1%). By contrast, transport costs accelerated slightly, rising 6.3% compared with 6% in January. On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.2%, following a 0.6% rise in the previous month.
