Speculative positioning in the Mexican peso eased slightly, according to the latest data on CFTC MXN speculative net positions updated on 27 February 2026. Net long positions slipped to 82.9K contracts, down from the previous reading of 84.1K.

The modest decline suggests that while investors remain broadly positive on the peso, some speculative enthusiasm has cooled. The pullback in net longs may reflect a degree of profit-taking or a more cautious stance toward Mexico’s currency amid shifting global macroeconomic and financial market conditions.

Despite the decrease, the level of speculative net positioning still indicates that market participants maintain an overall constructive view on the MXN, though with slightly reduced conviction compared with the prior period.
