2026.09.1007:29:39UTC+00Austria Industrial Output Falls to Lowest Since 2024

Austria’s industrial production fell by 1.1% year-on-year in July 2026, after two consecutive months of stagnation. This was the weakest reading since December 2024, driven largely by a sharp slowdown in the construction sector, where growth eased to 0.5% from 5.6% in June. Industrial production also contracted further, declining 1.6% compared with a 1.5% drop in the previous month.

Among the main industrial groupings, growth in consumer durables moderated to 11.4% from 12.4%. Output of consumer non-durables, however, fell more steeply, plunging 16.3% after a 7.0% decline in June. Capital goods production also weakened, slipping by 0.6% following a 0.1% increase previously.

By contrast, the downturn in energy production eased, with output falling 4.2% compared with a 4.6% decline in the prior month, while production of intermediate goods accelerated, rising 5.8% after a modest 0.5% increase in June.

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, overall industrial output decreased by 0.2% in July, reversing part of the 0.5% growth recorded in the preceding month.
