13.03.202607:45:00UTC+00French HICP Rebounds in February, Posting 0.7% Month-on-Month Rise

France’s Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) swung back into positive territory in February 2026, rising 0.7% month-on-month, according to data updated on 13 March 2026. This marks a sharp reversal from the previous month’s 0.4% decline.

Both the current and previous readings relate to February 2026, but measure different month-on-month comparisons. The latest “actual” figure of 0.7% reflects the change in prices in February compared with the immediately preceding month, while the earlier “previous” figure of -0.4% shows how prices moved in the prior comparison period, from that earlier month to the one before it.

The shift from a 0.4% monthly drop to a 0.7% gain suggests a significant turnaround in short-term price dynamics, as measured on a harmonised basis across the euro area framework. Investors and policymakers will be watching subsequent releases to see whether this move signals the start of a firmer inflation trend or a temporary correction from January’s weakness.
