31.03.202610:04:44UTC+00Sri Lanka Inflation Rate Accelerates in March

The annual inflation rate in Colombo, Sri Lanka’s capital, edged up to 2.2% in March 2026 from 1.6% in February. Both food and non-food inflation accelerated, with food prices rising by 0.7% (up from 0.2%) and non-food prices increasing by 2.9% (up from 2.3%). The uptick in non-food inflation was largely driven by higher costs in housing and utilities, restaurants and hotels, education, health, and transport. On a monthly basis, however, consumer prices declined by 0.3%, following a 0.9% drop in the previous month.
