10.09.202608:00:14UTC+00Moldova Inflation Rate Hits 9-Month High

Moldova’s annual inflation rate increased to 7.0% in August 2026, up from 6.3% in July, reaching its highest level since November 2025. Price growth for non-food goods accelerated (8.2% vs. 6.6% in July), driven mainly by significant increases in fuels and motor fuels, footwear, clothing, construction materials, and medicines. Service price inflation also picked up (8.1% vs. 7.4%), supported by higher costs for passenger transport, regulated tariffs for electricity supply, drinking water and sewage services, as well as public catering. In contrast, food inflation eased to 4.7% from 5.2%, despite notable price rises for eggs, wheat flour and bread, milk and dairy products, vegetables, vegetable oil, fruits, and meat, including meat preparations and canned products. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.2% in August, rebounding from a 0.1% decrease in the previous month.
